Perusahaan tersebut dituduh mengganti format laporannya setiap dua hingga empat tahun sekali agar kinerjanya tidak dapat dianalisis serta ditemukan pula kejanggalan pada metode akuntansi milik Baker Hughes General Electric. General Electric, disebutkan oleh Markopolos, ditengarai melakukan manipulasi hingga $38 miliar.
